Sup with bikes with out of state titles?

I see all these "great" deals on craigslist and they all have these out of state supposedly clean title. Should i be weary of these sellers? Can these possibly be stolen bikes and the titles are actually fake?Any thoughts on that?

one of my buddys has a r1 with NY plates and he said its super expensive to get them switched to texas tags, but it never hurts to have somebody run the vin # for you before you buy off craigslist or something like that

Friend called me to ask my advice on an '05 GSXR1000 on CL for $2900. The lady said it had FL plates and that she would deliver. I started digging and it was a scam.

odds are they are a scam.... ask yourself, why would someone list a bike for sale in houston craigslist from another state?

An occasional one is legit, but odds are that it's not.

You go get it 'greensheet' inspected, then go get it registred and the title transferred like you would any other vehicle.

I've purchased a bike with new Mexico plates before. The DMV asked to get it inspected and pay a $40 fee for being out of state. It wasn't bad at all for me.

i got mine from florida, penn, and ok. no problem so far. the best deals for me tend to be out of state. just run vin and as long as you can talk to the seller, you'll be ok.

I bought my bike new in 04 in South Florida when I was there working back then. So therefore it has a Florida title with Texas plates.
