Wow! That sucks! They actually came a long ways with their bikes. Last years Buel day was one of the most fun trackdays I've ever had.

RIP Buel

wow... that is sad. You could see Mr. Buell holding back tears. All this cause harley-davidson wants to focus on revamping their line of bikes to pick up slumping sales and let the little company that could (almost) die out... shame on you harley... shame. this is just another reason for people to buy imports.

And why shouldn't they? Bueel has NO competitive advantage in the sales of these kinds of motorcycles. Their product developement was weak compared to the industy leaders in the existing market. When they won the AMA championship they still couldn't sell bikes. HD's core competency lies in their heavy, rigid, vtwin bikes, not sport bikes, motards, or any of the sort.

Sadly, I saw this coming for a while.
More people out of work and one less product made in the USA.

I wonder why they would shut down an american company but sell the italian one. Some kinda deal with eric buell i guess, to not sell it out from under him?

because MV is a much more profitable company, and also a much larger company. Buell only employs 180 people. They are an extremely small company, who's revenue wasn't worth it to keep around. Just think of it this way...If Harley wouldn't have bought them out 10 years ago, Buell would have gone out of business then. They simply delayed the inevitable for another decade.
