does any one know wehats up with all the 08 cbr 1000's that r being sold so cheap(new) here lately.
did they just suck,or whats the deal?
looking to buy one for TD's.

ps. a local dealer told me they were being sold that cheap cuz they "may be" flooded units ,as in under water and they opted not to buy any.....

Honda just did a big price cut across the board, not to mention the 08's are still on the showroom floors with 2010 models coming out soon.

Get one.

Price reflects simple supply/demand. They have excess supply, driving demand down therefore they can't get asking price.

Rides fine from my point of view. Get the clutch recall done before it leaves the dealership.

The oil burning is hit and miss (mostly miss from what I've seen).

That issue wouldn't sway me, if I had the dough to blow.

I just recently got one.. beginning of september.. and LOVE it! no burning oil yet.. still too early to tell, have 1400 miles on it now. The clutch issue is only on certain vin numbers, here is the pdf on the issue: http://www.otdcyclesports.com/upload...0Recall(1).pdf

In the end, if you have the cash, it is a great bike.

There is no flood issue. As mentioned, it is simple supply and demand. There are plenty left and Honda is also offering cheap financing if you go that route. The offer is good through March if I remember correctly. You can get them locally for about 9K OTD. Others are going to OK or AR and getting them for 7K. With travel time and taxes, title, etc back here in Texas, you are looking at sub 8K when all done.

I am eyeing one but am on the fence. I called for an insurance quote and it would be $1616/year for me. That is more than I pay for the Bim and the KTM combined. That's hard for me to accept. I would almost rather find a nice older GSXR or CBR and fix it up like I did my old FZR600.

From what I have read, the oil issue is only on the certian VIN's listed above and there may be some instances from overfilling the oil.

I am probably going to take my time looking and wait till December IF I even decide to go forward with a CBR. If any are left, I 'll try to get a OK or AR type price locally. If it works, cool, if not, then I wasn't meant to have one.

My 0.02

I love mine... bought it about 6months ago before Honda offered the $2500 rebate... DOH!

Got it from Stubb's off Telephone (Chris Green was the wonderful sales man, and I hear a guy there named BigComfy is pretty good, too).

Had it on the track a number of times and have had NO issues (except that 1000cc's tends to stretch new chains rather quickly ).

I'm considering buying another one, just 'cause they're SO CHEAP NOW!

I saw em for 6800, on ebay from TN.

I love mine..the thing flicks like a 600.

And I have always got smoked by other litre bikes, in a straight line. I can hang with them now, on this bike.

I found the oil low a couple times not sure if its burning it though. It could have been my mistake.

Considering the break in your bike received by the previous owner, it's not surprising it'd be burning a little oil.

Yep $2500 rebate thingy from Honda. Dealer was trying to get me to take one with a stupid low driveout, but I have no business on a liter bike

Not true. No relevance has been made regarding build dates, VINs, or anything else to do with oil burning.
