I have a Vector. It is quiet with great airflow. Personally verified airflow at 100 F and low noise and aerodynamic (head not bouncing all over) at 155 mph. Tests done on a closed course. Fit is for long, oval skull.

I have a vector and love it. Makes a funny noise in the carousel at MSRH and couple of other hard lefts. Very weird.
Having said that, buy the lid that fits best, get earplugs and forget the rest. A badly fitting bucket will irritate you much more than a lod one. I can only wear the Vector in the Arai range because of fit and it is the only lid I have found that really fits me.

When you put the visor down on the higher end Shark's its like closing a car door. My last Shark was hands down the quietest helmet I've ever worn. That's saying something. I'm a parts mgr at at dealership. I change helmets everytime I see something I like or want to try. (I've pretty much worn everything)
you mean "long oval". The RSR2 still fit me pretty well, just not as well as the Corsair. It's not like the fit was completely wrong. , I crash tested (okay...okay it wasn't a test, just a crash) the Shark once.

I always wore earplugs with both lids and found the Shark maintained higher noise levels. Also didn't get ANY buffeting at higher speeds with the Arai.

I will agree, mammoth, that closing the RSR2's shield is like closing a car door;however, it was correction IS still loud for me (i use it for track21 now). The shield system on the RSR2 puts others to shame though.

Again, fit is very important.

Shoei's X-11 is not a quiet helmet. The RF1000 is much better in the noise dept.

I've not tried other brands because the X-11 fits me so well. I'm hoping the shell design of the 12 doesn't change.

I had an EXO700 that I thought was pretty loud. I attribute some of that to poor fit, but still.

Scorpians are def quiet, but the fact that they has no air-flow and weigh a ton sucks.

My Arai Corsair is kinda loud, but you'll freeze you head off in it. Arai FTW.

The Vectors arent bad at all. I have ridden with one and it definitely was a great helmet. The only thing I do not like about Arai is the faceshield and the visibility off to the side is not as good as my Shoei. Other than that, I love their helmets.

My RF1000 is pretty quiet. The X-11s are considerably louder than the RF1000s due to the ventilation. Overall, I am very happy with the RF1000.

I probably will be trying to order my new RF1100 here in the next 2-3 weeks so until then, I wont know what they are like. If I have any of my customers that have bought them come in and give any reviews, I will make sure to post them up.

I have actually just ordered an RF-1000. Got a great deal. I tried on like 15 helmets...lol. When I get the new one, I'll make another thread about my discoveries.

Kara, what's up? Haven't seen you in forever!!! Another surfside ride soon?

PS- I did try on a new 1100. Same helmet in feel and weight (actually only 2 grams heavier). Alot better ventilation though, looks to be similar to the X11. The ventilation holes at the neckline were pretty cool.

Hey Captain,
I was saying the 1000 and 1100 feel similar. The X11 was alot different!

Thanks for the advice though too!
