WD-40 the outta the chain to clean it, wipe it down, let it dry, then chain lube.

i used it regularly... i just put a towel behind the chain when i spray it so it doesnt get every where...

Spray it down with kerosene (you can't get it at Home Depot or Lowes, but they sell it at Ace Hardware).

Then the lube... then the wax.

My book says somewhere around 1 1/2in. but I can't remember exactly.
