+1 When I come up on a situation where I have to slow down, the first reaction I have is to check my mirrors out of fear!

Once, last year, when I was southbound on 610 by the 59 interchange, I was behind and to the left of this car, when I looked to my rearview, and saw a work van coming up FAST, switching lanes left and right, then coming up on the lane to my right. There was another car slightly ahead to the right of the car in front of me, but the left lane was clear.
I figured I had a few options:
1) Hold my position;
2) Get out of there fast and pass the car on the left then get right back in front of him, protected by the "pocket", or
3) Move slightly right.

I decided to move right, but just as I inititated the move, the van had already switched over 2 lanes, right behind me, and passed me on my left side. If I had decided the 2nd option, I would have been dead. He would have slammed into me just as I would have initiated the move. I felt the van and the turbulence move my left arm and head... he was THAT close, easily going over 90 or 100.

Best wishes to her for a full recovery. Her bike had a very sweet custom paintjob on it, too.

Remember to flash your brake lights and not decel on a regular basis

Its hard for cars to judge these things when the rear lights are so close together, especially at night.

How could someone rear-end a f*ing motorcycle!?!?! The least punishment should be revocation of license.

Get well soon! Post up if you need anything.
