Question Scenic route to MSR Cresson

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but it is a ride and whomever wants to join me is more than welcome to.
I plan to ride my bike to MSR Cresson on Friday 23Oct2009 however I am not in a hurry to get there nor I want to take boring highways, therefore I want to take a route that allows me to take some twisties and good scenery along the way.
I am leaving from 610 and 288. So far the route I saw is 288 to I-45, then 249 until 149 to Bryan. After that, all Texas 6 to Waco. From there take I-35 for a few miles until Texas 171 to Cresson.
Since I am not a Texas native, maybe someone has a better route that involves less crowded roads and more twisties and scenery.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Like I said, if someone feels like joining you are more than welcome

Exactly why I am doing it, just for the of it. I will be riding a 2008 WR250X. Oh and yes, on the 24th I'll do the TD. On Saturday, I'll either stay at a hotel or camp at the track, will ride back on Sunday.

Danny thanks for the offer man, but I actually want to ride

Burnboy, the tires the 'tard has will hold just fine.

I just bought the bike on tuesday and will pick it up on Saturday, I already have two big rides coming up
Since I've never been to Cresson, don't know the bike well enough and it is a small bike, I'll be running "C" group that day, what group will you be riding?

Me too w C group. First track day ever so I'm definitely a newb, but yet very excited. The bike is hella fun, and I hope it's the same fun factor at Cresson.

3.1 Combined track...I'm running B 'cuz I'm scared.
Actually, never been on the long track (only the 1.3) and I'll be heading to ECR the following day so I don't want to crash and ruin my weekend. See you guys there.

Burnboy suggested a new route after Waco, seems like a good one.

Navajib, how are you getting to the track? I'm not sure if you know Candie, she is an instructor with LSTD and is a great one if I may say. If you can, work with her throughout the day. In the afternoon, I can tow you around if you want.

Any other suggestions on the route?

wow, that is a long ride and then the next day a track day. Be safe i will be driving friday so i'll pm you my number in case you need some help during your journey.

However if you ask me i will probably drive it and do an austin ride sometime a few days before or after the track day. Remember that you want to be well rested for the track day.

Good idea...Irak, I'll send you my # as well. Will have the trailer, so if you need assistance I will be able to help as well. I plan on taking 6 up through waco and then on to Cresson. With it being a new bike, you should have no complications though...but you never know.
