Actually when I first saw the Element at the car show before it was available, I was like WTF is THAT thing?! Ewwww

After 15 minutes, it grew on me.. Traded in my Z-28 for one..

Love it. Goofy looks and all.

ody has a 3500lb towing cap. not up to diesel excursion level, but it'll tow anything i'll ever need to tow.

as for convincing, take it for what its worth......information. i goto lunch in my buddies diesel ex. every couple days. he likes to pretend he needs a huge tow vehicle also........lol

element........it's practical for parents w/ no kids, start adding kids and it gets less practical. when we goto Kansas we also tow along 2 dogs, and if we have another kids (thats the plan) then the ody will be right on the $.

My Element only has a 1500lb towing capacity. lol Perfect for a small trailer with 2 bikes.

And when it's just the mini.. no trailer is needed.
IMG 0229sized

But like you said.. to each his own.

If I had a boat or something to tow, then yeah, I'd have gotten a huge SUV, or a Nissan Titan or something.

When im older and have a famialy i will have my wife drive a mini van there safest and for the most part they get good gas milege....

Suvs are cool but come on 11-19mpg sheez thats just crazy.....

Plus for the average person (txvrod you dont count) they will never use that suv for what its ment to be used for...They dont tow anything witht hem they dont go off the road... they do nothing with them other then haul the famialy around witch a mini van is much much better at doing....

Me personaly i perfer the looks of a suv but the gas prices detur me away....

I had an unique opportunity to attend a Nissan-sponsored press event back on Marh 31st (I write for ROCKCRAWLER.com). They had a mess of Frontiers, Titans and a couple of Xterras - some were NISMO Z rate-equipped. It took place at an abondonded quarry-turned-OHV park and they let us abuse them all afternoon. What a BLAST! I was REALLY impressed with the Titan - especially the NISMO model.

Right - if I didn't have the Jeep or the need to tow other stuff, I wouldn't have it. I would have a diesel Jeep KJ (Liberty)

w/ that in mind, would you buy a truck over "american" (lol , made in mexico) truck......lol

my friend bought a rubicon, i don't think it's ever gone in 4whl drive mode. he sold his '99 jeep to get the LATCH system in the rear seats. they have a 2nd baby on the way.....he'd have an infant seat and toddler seat back there........another bad application.

Nope, I want to, though. I started plans to convert my rig but then storage of the grease became an issue (I have no room). There are a few places around here which sell BIODiesel or BIOWillie. I'll give it a try... as soon as I stock up on fuel filters.

What a waste. I have a Jeep and I think it's fun but, unless it's used off-road or for just tooling aroung with the top down, they're impractical. To have a RUBI and not take it off-road, well, that's just disgusting! :icon_bigg

My Element has 'real-time' AWD. If the front wheels spin the rear kick in automagically. Can't really go off-roading though, I don't think. It's my geek-mobile.
