Spies to ride as Yamaha Wild Card at Valencia GP!

This will be one to watch. Not expecting a podium or anything, but it will cool to see him run! Don't think he'll be sharing tea and crumpets with Toseland though.

@ tea and crumpets
word is he'll be using Toseland's second/spare bike.
If he can get anyway near Colin that will be one of an achievement

Says right there in the article linked within this thread...

"25-year-old Spies will participate as a single rider entry of a Yamaha Factory Racing Team, using YZR-M1 test bikes brought over from Japan."

Bike will also be in Corporate Yamaha blue instead of Tech 3 livery. Good news is he will also participate in the testing following the GP. More seat time for Ben!!

BEN SPIES TO MAKE 'WILD CARD' ENTRY INTO VALENCIA GP

Following the announcement on Thursday that Ben Spies will move to MotoGP in 2010, Yamaha Motor Company now announces that it will enter the Texan as a wild card into the season-ending Grand Prix of Valencia.

25-year-old Spies will participate as a single rider entry of a Yamaha Factory Racing Team, using YZR-M1 test bikes brought over from Japan. The Valencia MotoGP race takes place 6-8th November, two weeks after the final World Superbike round at Portimao, Portugal.

The wild card entry will provide an opportunity for Spies to get extra circuit time prior to his inclusion in the Tech 3 Yamaha Team for the two-day MotoGP test on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the Grand Prix.

Spies to get MotoGP wildcard ride at Valencia
Texan will ride Yamaha YZR-M1 in separate team at season-ending MotoGP race
In order to get some valuable seat time before he officially enters the MotoGP World Championship, Ben Spies has been provided a wildcard entry into the season-ending Valencia GP in November. Because testing in MotoGP is being increasingly scaled back to help cut costs, any seat time Spies can get before the official testing begins (a two-day official test is scheduled right after the Valencia event) is a major bonus. The final World Superbike Championship event at Portimao is two weeks before Valencia, so there won’t be any conflict with his title quest in that series.

The Texan will be using M1 test machines brought over from Japan in a separate one-rider team, running in corporate Yamaha colors. Spies has ridden at Valencia on the Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP machine as well as the World Superbike event back in March, so it won’t be a completely new circuit when he begins his MotoGP career. It should be interesting to see how Spies measures up against the competition in November
This is this weekned race? Cant wait to see the "texas boys" team up
