Sometimes Discount tire will give them out.

Yes, you need to dismount the tire:

Pull out the screw/nail as straight as possible.

Grind down the inside of the tire in the center of the puncture. Clean off the dust/shavings. Apply rubber cement and allow to dry. install the plug, pull back the sticker and pull through. Do not pull to tight.

compress the tire just a little so the plug wont be installed and dried in a position it can get loose quickly from tire deflection.

press the patch against the tire w a roller or the end of a ballpoint hammer.

put rubber masking over the plug to insure leak stoppage.

On the outside of the tire, cut off the protruding plug.

If needed, clean out the hole and enlarge enough for the plug to come through w resistance.

a plug def works in a pinch, slime will work as well if its in the cente of the tire, ive used it on a car tire but not a bike, and i bet you could find some shop to change it out for a patch or patch over the plug if you want.

If you put that slime in the tire make sure to advise the guys who will be dismounting the tire. Nothing like breaking a bead and having green slime covering your tire equipment.
