2007-2008 R1 Color Variety

The stretched out superrare charcoal R1 discussion got me to thinking, how rare are the color selections? Maybe rare is the wrong word - how many more of one color do you **think** (operative word) was sold over another? I've only seen three metallic red R1's, two of those being 2007's with the black side panels. I have an 08 metallic red, with the red side panel.

Multiple stealerships have told me that while the red wasn't a limited edition or rare color, not many people liked it - so it wasn't ordered. My own personal experience is that I've seen more blue than anything.

The "factory" colors are generally ordered in larger numbers than the others. For suzuki thats blue/white, for Yamaha thats blue, For kawasaki thats green, For Ducati its solid red, etc etc.

I have not really noticed a large difference between colors. I definately see more blue than the others, but rarity is usually a function supply and demand.

To truly get your answer, you would have to see if the red side panels would bring more money than the black.
