Exclamation Important Question!!!

Serious replies only please.

I saw a 1986 Honda Rebel today. The bike is pretty clean and it has 17000 miles on it. I am writing this thread to find out what yall think it a good price for the bike. It has quite a bit of custom work on it, I was told 1200 dollars custom work.
The custom work was done at Temptress Choppers.

Please post your opinions.

pretty old. despite custom work, you probably won't want to pay too much for it. how much is it? i don't think Rebels are very expensive to begin with.

1200 - 1500 If the engine ain't strong you'll never make it over the 610 bridge no matter how pretty it is.

what about what kind of custom work was done. maybe they did some internal work and messed something up or never broke it in. is there chrome, paint, etc.

buying used and buying something older is always a risk. if you can afford to risk $1750 go for it.

MSF? They will let you ride their rebels, then you can see how much you want a custom rebel.

i already took the MSF class the bike was comfortable but I am just curious cause I think the price is a little high. I just can't get financed for a loan to buy something decent that is used or new and I don't know what the I am looking for.
I just want something to ride.

if you can barely afford this bike, gear and maintenance (on older bikes especialy) is going to be hard to achieve. save up, theres no rush to crash and re-spend.

temptress choppers does not exist. It was a dude who rented a house in my neighborhood and his shop was in his garage, now he moved to L.A. The bike you speak of does look kinda cool, but don't be to wowed about it, it is still a 1986 rebel.

what are they wanting for it? I wouldnt think it would be much more than the "custom work" amount they told ya about. In fact, real world its worth less but if you like the looks and it runs nice still, its worth whatever value you think it is, your the one that will be riding it and you must be happy with whatever price you choose to pay for it, no matter what anyone else thinks.
it is kinda pimp looking for what it is. I'll ask Nick how much he sold it for if you want me to.

Well they told me that if I could get 1k then they would just hold the title until i get the rest. I think they bought it for 1850 or something in Sept. I don't know. I don't see to many bikes in this area was just looking for opinions.
Thank you all for your help and advice.

Yeah I agree with all the gear, maintanence and everything its still a 20yr old bike and I highly doubt it is worth the money. I am just going to continue to save maybe I will come across the right bike soon.
