Bike Blond moments!

So my first blond moment was trying to drive off with the kick stand down. facepalm

So the bike always wanted to die right when I release the clutch. First thing I thought was something went wrong when I put new gas in then I hear the kick stand go up and think .

Please share yours so we can:
1. make fun of you
2. learn from your experience

This isn't my blonde moment, but in my short trackday experience, you wouldn't believe how many people tip their bikes over in the paddocks.

When I got my first bike (Kawa EX500) back in 1990 I had no idea what a reserve tank or a cut-off switch was. One time I walked my bike 4 miles to a gas station when I am certain I must have still had gas in reserve. I still did not learn about the switch after that one. Another time I had it towed to the shop when the cut off was in the off position. I decided to read the manual after the guys at Kawasaki of Stafford gave me several good comedic jabs.

Yeah it happens.
Then theres the classic dismount without putting the kick stand down.

Maan... I have a fantastic one. It's so fkn embarrassing that I don't even know if I've ever told anyone about it.

It happened on my very first bike, right when I first started riding, pre-MSF, all that.

I was sitting in the driveway, on my bike, and I leaned down to the side to tie my shoe. The bike pretty much just tipped over onto me. So I get up, take a look around, make sure no one saw this ridiculous event, and then brushed myself off, acting all cool like nothing happened...

Fortunately, zero damage to me or the bike of course.. and the best part.. nobody saw it happen.

I dont remember what it was i was looking for ( think i was curious or troubleshooting something) but when i first bought my cruiser i was trying to shift gears while off to the side of the bike. The shifter would move up, but then just flop down without changing gear. I could mount the bike and shift ok, but off the bike it would flop up and down, but never shift. Upon closer look, i was shifting the foot peg! Lol... My handlebars are so wide i had to hold both sides and couldn't reach back enough to see where i was kicking.

I had a dirtbike as a teen, first street bike was 19 got it home and I wasn't comfortable riding on street at night yet but it was a new toy and was eating me up not getting to play with it. Decided I would ride it around the pasture behind the house. Wet grass + street tires= fail
the bike fell onto my leg and I received 2nd degree burns to my inner right thigh

my first attempted trip out to cali by bike- i was all of 18 at the time..

due to various friends and family living so close to I-10, but on opposite sides of the freeway, i sometimes lost my bearing, and mistook north/south. so here i am on gessner heading southbound, in a TORRENTIAL downpour, get to I-10, and turn left (eastbound).. because of my misdirection, and rain so bad i could barely make out signs, and freezing cold.... i made it about an hour and a half past BEAUMONT before realising..." dude.......california is west didnt know beaumont is west too and i just passed thru there...five minutes later see another town that i recognize..and go "wait..if beaumont is west, and the other town is west...that means california IS Eaaaaa......-!

turn around and motor off in the CORRECT direction to get to cali in the downpour.

I went to my sisters house on my ZX7. I got off the bike and didn't fully extend the kickstand. I walked towards the door and heard a crash. I looked at my niece and asked "That wasn't my bike was it?". She nodded her head yes. Need less to say, I had to replace my left mirror.

My blonde moment was a couple of years ago after parking the my first bike at for the first time at the garage...
I got on the bike and was backing the bike down the drive way... gained too much speed (I guess I forgot about brakes) and just at the sidewalk I said "let me turn the bike" to avoid incoming cars... needless to say I had a bruised pinky finger and couple of scratches on the bike

Dismounted the bike on the right side with the kickstand up.
Didn't drop it but stood there for a few seconds holding the bike wondering how I could be so stupid...
