Had a similar incident happen a couple years ago, big white turn arrow, wet pavement at 5:30 in the morning=rashed up bike AND rider.
But I discovered that a skinny white guy CAN pickup a Busa laying on it's side unassisted, the fear of a car coming around the corner and seeing Busa laying there on it's side and/or running over me and Busa may have helped

thats the side I went down on. I was only going 10 or 12mph, and once down only slid 8 or 10 feet.

Makes sense. The circumference of the tires is only about 5-6 ft, and that distance will easily be covered in the process.

Sifu's correct on the EPDM membrane. Everytime it rains, or if for any reason they may have cleaned/power-washed that roof, the powder can very easily coat the concrete with a film that becomes slick if damp, as might be the case in the early morning hours. Hmmm... maybe you should file a claim?

Sorry about your get-off. I'm glad to see it wasn't worse and you didn't go flying off the top of that parking garage! although that would make a good story

well, I got interested in the motobot post that read "State environmental regulators begin enforcement action against a county government facility that has been raining chemicals down on sidewalks and parking lots in downtown Houston."

"white film is caked on the exterior granite of a courthouse across the street. Modern parking meters, which appear new one block away, are covered with a heavy white film"

more:
http://www.click2houston.com/news/21498105/detail.html

Well, it just so happens that the garage I park in is caddy-corner to another garage with 6 huge cooling towers...not the same place mentioned in the motobot article, but a white film...and now that I think about it all the steel in the garage does seem excessivly rusted.

that sux man, but glad to hear you walked away. is there any construction near the parking garage? like that new building going up?

side note: my JR mesh jacket held up wonderfully for me when I went down ~70mph on my way into work
