Mobil 1 Oil & Filter Special at Advance Autoparts

Hello Team:

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

Just wanted to share a good Oil & Filter special at Advance Autoparts:

Buy 5 Quarts of MOBIL 1 Synthetic Motor Oil and a MOBIL 1 Oil Filter for $29.99 (thru Sep. 30)

http://advanceauto.shoplocal.com/adv...6StartRow%3d10

I personally use Mobil 1 in the bike (15W-50) and the cars (5W-20)

I got mine at the store located at 2303 N. Fry Rd., Katy, TX 77449
Tel: 281-646-8485

Cheers!!

Yes. As long as it does NOT have any friction modifiers in the oil, it will be fine.
(MOBIL 1 it's not a energy conserving oil so it does not have the friction modifier added to it so there shouldn't be any problems with clutch slippage)

I have never use a "specific" motorcycle oil. Before using Mobil 1 I used SHELL ROTELLA Synthec [i](made for big trucks with diesel engines)[/i and also never an issue.

No idea Ed.

I use a regular Mobil 1 oil filter for my bike (M1-108 or M1-110)

From: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterStudy.html

Quote:
Suzuki motorcycles come with a very non-standard 20mm x 1mm thread size, with the result that your choice for filters is quite limited, and there are no automotive filters that will fit.

I just got my service manual from the mail.

Oil viscosity:
in cold climates - SAE 10W-40 or 10W-50
in warm climates - SAE 20W-40 or 20W-50

Can I still use what everyone else is talking about in this thread?

Oil type: 2001 and later - API grade SE, SF, or SG, or API grade SH, SJ or SL meeting JASO MA standard.

Of course I dont understand any of that.

Tim is correct. Auotmotive oil has additives that can cause issues in motorcycles, especially those with wet clutches.
My car specifies to use 0w40 Mobil 1 so I swung by and picked up some for it.
Fwiw, I do run Amsoil in my Diesel Dodge and my Ducati.
Each one takes a specific type of oil.
