so

no gloves or boots, paper tags, and flying thru the group at a stop adjusting his camera?

Great choices there!

I know right.... I hope the rider is ok but now that this happened, I hope he will pay attention all the time and make any adjustments while stopped or getting gas.

I always heard about crazy things happening on big group rides, now I witnessed it

I hope you guys have a speedy recovery healing and repairing your bikes. I can't remember everyone's name but thank you to the leaders (guys I rode with after the accident) that stopped, waited for the newbies and took a head count. I wasn't able to run the pace as you guys but I really had fun running at a comfortable pace for myself. Lookin forward to the next run.

NOt sure if they had one or not. Alot of new faces and too many people to actually keep track of. I took off early and rode in solo for the most part. Maybe next time thier should be an emphasis on that

No we did not have a riders meeting, we just assumed that at least people will pay attention to the road when they ride. After this incident i think a rider's meeting is a good idea to avoid this type of situations in the future. Here are a few points i would like to include in the meeting:

1. keep at least 2 bike lengths distance between bikes at all times
2. pay attention to the road and the bikes in front of you
3. do not adjust GoPro while riding
4. no speeding or passing specially when approaching a red light and most riders are on their brakes!

You guys need to ride with CaligoneTx at least once to learn how to properly hold a riders meeting for group rides.

1. When riding in staggered formation stay at least one second behind the rider closest to you, and at least two seconds behind the rider directly in front of you.

2. No passing a rider in his lane (use another lane to pass)

3. No passing a rider on any turn

4. No wheelies in the same lane as other riders (use another lane to wheelie)

5. When passing cars, don't slow down after the pass, leave room for the riders that may be passing with you

6. Always use hands or feet to signal all turns at intersections and all stops, and when slowing down for sharp turns. Also, use feet to point out debris on road

i think point 5 is very important, i have seen so many people slow down once they pass a car leaving no room for the riders behind!

How about NO

On a serious note, having people on the same page is very important when riding in groups. Not really a must to ride with him to be able to give a rider's meeting before a ride though

1) Cali sets a good example

2) Why was there no riders meeting?

I wasn't in charge of the ride. I agree there should be some sort of meeting beforehand so everyone knows some boundaries and guidelines to follow. Quite a few guys speeding to stop lights... I dont really understand that but whatever.

I'm sure Sunday_Rider will plan on having one in the future. You already gave him some ideas to be announced during a meeting.
