craiglist scam

first off sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I posted my bike for sale on craigslist and got a reply from someone and this is how the convo went. I'm pretty sure its a scam. this all happened within 36 hrs.

Paul: Am interested in buying your item posted get back to me if still available

me:I do still haveit, I am not at my computer so this is the only picture I havefor now. I will take more as soon as I can.

Paul:Hello James,

I really appreciate your timely response.I want you to know that am very much serious in buying the item, and i would be more than grateful to be the person to buy it from you, coz i am really in need of it. Pls do send me your contact address and phone # to send the payment to as soon as possible, and moreover i would be including the shipper fund that would be coming for the pick up of the item, but i would ask them to notify you ahead the time they would be coming for the pick up. I will be looking forward to hear back from you so soon.

Regards...

Paul

shipper fund - scam
sending money - scam
no actual mention of a motorcyle (it, item, it) - scam
bad syntax, improper tense - obviously not a native english speaker, but using more advanced english words (moreover, appreciate) denote someone who has studied english, but does not have a mastery of the language.

I used to do a lot of buying and selling on CL, and have had countless of emails that went exactly like that. There was a time when i wanted the guy to send his "shipper" over and just beat the outta him. Maybe the message would get relayed.

Its not a scam..........I really do want "it" and will be sending someone to pick up the "it" from you shortly. I only had 1 check left and accidently made it out for $1,234,567. If you could deposit it and transfer the remainder of the money to my account it Batswana, you have yourself a deal.

This t happens any time you post something on CL. They always say the "Item" and never say what it actually is. I had one person try and say they were in the millitary, so I wrote them an email telling them to go f@ck their mother and that I would set them on fire and run them over with my car because they were using our armed forces to try and seem legit. Needless to say there was no response. Losers

Thats all I needed to read to know that its a scam. The fact that they didn't even refer to your item specifically means they don't know and/or don't care.
