Title help

Trying to get some info for a friend so he can get a title for his bike. Heres the deal. He bought the bike 5 years ago and lost the title while bringing it home, but he still had the bill of sale. Well then the bike got stolen so he never bothered to get a new title, soooo then a little over a year ago he gets a call from the police they recovered his bike. Well he got it back still didnt get a new title and about a month later blows the engine so it sat with a blown engine till now. Well he bought a new engine and is trying to sell it but needs a title. He called the previous owner and they will not help him because they are he didnt get it registered in his name 5 years ago. Which he told them all that happened and that it was his fault but no luck with the previous seller. What are his options to get a title to sell the bike. He has the original bill of sale. Can he write a bill of sale to the new owner? I wasnt sure since the bike needs plates if the dmv would let someone register it with just a bill of sale. I told him just to get the paper work from the dmv fill it out, go to the previous owner ask them nice if they can sign their portion and if they get mad again explain they can either sign it or he will keep riding it in their name. Problem is he doesnt want to be confrontational.

Not sure, I guess they had his info when he reported it stolen and I think he still had the original title. Im really not sure, I just know a kid bought it off Craiglist and when he went to the dmv they found out it was stolen and called my friend

Hmmm, they won't release vehicles out of impound that aren't "legally" yours.

bonded title. i just went through the process and it's very easy. just make sure all the paperwork matches name and address on the letter that you obtain from TXDOT.

if you can get the original owner to goto TXDOT, for $6 (maybe it was $7) they will print them a new title. Hopefully they aren't that .
