New to MotoHouston.com

Hello y'all.
I have not had a bike in a while. Not since spinning around abandoned property on an 80cc Honda. I have been considering (and researching) what would be best for me. I have come to the conclusion that a KLR650 would be a good "starter bike" for a guy 2 decades removed from 2 wheeled motorized transport. I want street wheels and tires for it. Having said that, I have been following http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/
and
http://www.mac-motorcycles.com/
for a while. I am knowledgable without being a know-it-all, I am older without being ancient. I am helpful to all who ask.
Be cool with me and I will be cool with you.
A stunter turned me onto this site from FB.

Adults chime in, because if I get a whole passle of "**** you" I will just seek other online outlets, and your community will be less complete for it. Really.

I am well experienced with other online forums, so a bit of online razzing is not unexpected or unwelcome. I just wanted to set the stage correctly.
Thanks you guys. I am appreciative of people wanting to bend the law and appriciative of people desiring to be as respectful of the law as possible as long as then law is not around. That represents my paramaters. Texas is good about that kind of thing.
I have been a 4 wheeler for years. If you guys want somewhere to go on a Sunday try this:

Watch some autocross. Have a good time. Email me if you are coming and if I am planning on coming you can share my E-Z up and my beverages. It's always a good time.

Welcome Marneyman

I too am a bit older than most here.
Many riders here are very good and many still have a lot to learn.
(Thats a bit of a warning for when you go on group rides)

It surprises me to see how many bikes are stolen and it also seems there are a lot of RIP threads.

Maybe its all statisticaly normal , but reading about it seems to help keep me in better prosepctive of the sport.

Regarding the KLR 650 - yes that could be a good choice but with street tires I doubt you plan on any off roading, have you looked at a Suzuki GS500F its more on the sprt side than the KLR
