had my first crash

yesterday i rode down to the SE side to workout with a friend who lived out there. About a half mile from the gym I managed to lay the bike over at about 35-40 mph.

I was going through a curvy stretch of road, a sharp left followed by a gentle right and left. 25mph zone and I was doing more than that. One the second left the bike went down, real wheel sliding out. I am sliding down the road wondering how that happened and worrying about my bike.
When we slid to a stop I got up, and saw that there was a trail of oil on the road just over the center line, so I must have crossed over at some point. Going into the turn i could not see the oil, but once past it and the sun hitting on a different angle it was a lot clearer.

Anyway I stood the bike back up, restarted it and went to the gym.

I got extremely lucky. I was wearing Alpinestar riding shoes, Fieldsheer riding jeans, a fieldsheer mesh jacket, alpinestar sp2 gloves and my shark rsr2. my head never touched the ground. my shoes have a slight scuff and oil on them, my jeans have a few scuffs, the jacket has small tears and scuffs all over the left sleeve, the gloves are scuffed on the carbon fiber.

I have scrapes on my knee and hip bone (between the pants and jacket), and a large bruise on my thigh that is swollen out about half an inch, its probably 3 inches wide and 6 inches long.

My bike had a bent clutch lever, ground down frame slider, and new scars on the stator cover and swing arm.

I was extremely lucky it was not worse, and and very glad I made sure to have decent gear on.

looking for a trackbike!!

I was expecting to read about how messed up you were when I opened this. Cheers to you for being a responsible rider and wearing all you gear, even when going to the gym.

bt014's with about 60-70% left. the oil on the road looked like some sort of lightweight mineral oil, it was fairly clear, and pretty slippery. It was my own fault for crossing the center line and putting my rear tire in it, even if i could not see it until after the fact.

soooo any pics of the gear? I'm curious to see how it all held up
I will get a pic or two tomorrow. its pretty undramatic actually. the jacket is most likely going to be repaired with a patch or two and I will still use it.
