But it will not be on Satellite equipment.

This will fulfill the Dorna regs and Spies' contract requests while also making Edwards very, very happy...

If the other OEMs don't get on the ball in '10, it will be a Yamaha sweep (again!) in '11:
Rider's Championship
Team Championship
Constructor's Championship

Rumor is his contract was written so that he would move to MotoGP if he could win the SBK championship. The rookie rule means that would have to be with Tech 3.

I don't think anyone thought that would happen the first year, but with how things are going they have to wait and see. Plus both factory Yamaha riders only have one year contracts, so Ben has lots of options for 2011.

Good lord. Reading that article reminds me, somehow, of dating in HS.

That is why they call it the "Silly Season", but it does make sense as to whay that is the only seat not yet filled...

Excerpt from the interview...

September 10th
Crash.net:
Is there any chance of Ben Spies being on the bike next year?

Herve Poncharal:
That is a question I absolutely cannot answer! I would like to, but I have got no relationship with Ben. Ben has signed a contract with Yamaha Japan for the next two seasons. This we know for sure and on the release we saw 2010 Superbike and 2011 MotoGP. I guess there is a small theoretical possibility he could be here if the second seat is still open, but that would be a decision for Yamaha and Ben together. Not me.

Read between the lines: If he wins the WSBK championship he will be there...

We'll see, only time will tell! These same rags had Rossi driving F1 this time last year too...

Spies is going to Tech 3 and Crutchlow taking his spot in SBK next year.
Id like to see him ride this year on a 3rd bike just for and giggles.

This looks to be true!

Toseland will not be offered another season on the Tech 3 M1.

The official announcement should take place at Imola (if not sooner).

I guess we can thank Ducati for putting pressure on Yamaha.
Funny thing, since we can thank Yamaha for Nicky getting that RCV ride.

The "silly season" is almost over.

A healthy Haga vs Spies battle for the chamionship wouldve been great to watch. Stupid Johhnie Raye pulled a Haga like move on Haga though, so... oh well.
I don't think its possible to shake Spies mentally. Once he flips the visor down, he is out to kill.

man i read all this and i just couldnt stay away.
it would be crazy for yamaha to send Spies to Gp and loose dominating both WSB and Gp at the same time again.
i'm all for Spies winning but lets hope we have no more of this lever falling off or favrisio blocking........
GO SPIES.

the word is no factory support from yamaha to WSBK or WSS in '10, so you can't blame Spies from not wanting to stay another year on WSBK and dominate.

agreed. spies' mental strength is above anyone else's cept for maybe rossi. course, when he had to chase mladin's for 4 years, you learn to be strong mentally. haha

well, if yamaha drops factory support in wsbk, then definitely expect spies to go to motogp, because as said before in this thread, spies' deal is with yamaha directly, not a team.

Benny S. has a solid head about him and I'd bet he doesn't want to hear anything more about it himself.

First things first... win races now and the rest will fall into place.
