There needs to be a similar type of site but instead of gas prices, it would have gas station bathroom cleanliness ratings. I'm sure travelers and especially the ladies would appreciate it.

9 dollars for 150 miles...sure it does affect me, but not much. That will last me a week and costs the same price as one day's lunch. I take Metro too which is a buck each way to work and back.

Might as well get used to it, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Summer is coming.

While supply and demand are, in the word of OPEC spokesmen, well
balanced, the lack of spare capacity and the geopolitical uncertainty
regarding Iran and Nigeria have caused prices to increase far beyond the
level that would be indicated by the supply, demand and inventories. We
estimate that the supply interruption risk premium is in excess of $20
per barrel.

It is unlikely that even good news from Nigeria and a solution to the
Iranian nuclear situation would result in prices below $55 per barrel.
There is always some risk of a supply interruption and until there is
enough spare capacity to cover an interruption in excess of 2 million
barrels per day most of the supply risk premium will remain in place.

There are only two scenarios that can result in lower prices in 2006. The
first is spectacular success in the Saudi drilling program and the second
is a worldwide recession. Next year holds better prospects for lower
prices. High levels of exploration activity and price induced
conservation should result in enough spare capacity to put downward
pressure on the price of crude.

This is from my E&P newsletter. Uncertainties but some hope. The way you can help prices...reduce your own consumption, meaning more fuel efficient vehicles, less unnecessary trips, and use of mass transit.
