loud pipes save lives for a few weeks, than you realize your ears hurt and your sick of hearing your bike screaming when just going freeway speeds and getting unwanted LEO attention, so you go to cycle gear and buy some packing material and put that back the way it was before then let out a sigh of relief.

i can honestly say that loud pipes have kept me from running over several bikers over my years of driving rigs and busses. the fukking things reverberate all through my vehicle and wake my bands up. mind you, if those same bikers would not have been doing stupid , there would never have been a close call in the first place, but their pipes did save their around me.

Yes, I think its harrassment. Typical jerk cop. You should have tried to run that would have made the story funnier.

Too loud?

Anybody here think a Triumph Thruxton is too loud for the road, or as loud as a harley with straight pipes? That's what i was riding and this cop wanted to stop me as well. So stating that harleys should get stopped for being too loud or that they never get stopped enough is just purely moronic. Obviously this cop was out there just profiling, he followed next to us for a good stretch of the road (searching for a bogus reason to stop us probably) until he thought of the exhaust i guess. Oh well, LEOs that do their job have my respect, not the ones that get powertrips and just try to bs their way into intimidating riding folk.
