however, if the statment he made IS false that it is NOT state law, then yeah, hes a douche.

right there it says you can change it. Exhaust manufacturers have to meet a certain criteria to make pipes law abiding, so that cop was just a hassling.

A good friend of mine is a deputy for Galveston County.

He says they are trained to look for these things , NOT to give tickets, but to have a good excuse to pull you over and possibly find drugs, guns, warrants, murderers etc.

Dont want to get pulled over? Be 100% legal.

BTW, Ive always been FAR from legal, I just deal with the tickets. lol

I've spoken to more than a few cops over the years, mainly related to street racing cars... "excessive noise" is up to their interpretation. Some cities and townships have decibal laws, I believe Houston is 89 db. But they don't carry meters and have pulled over cars with loud stereos more than once.

It's not harrassment per se, as they have a legitimate reason to make the stop. If he feels it is too loud, it's his call. And they are also specifically targeting bikes lately due to so many "dirty" riders like Solracer...

Loud pipes got him a ticket. I guess it is up to the officer. My bike is just as loud.

Oh well.
