I love me FZ1 too. I do not get quite as good milage as you. I hover around 35mpg. I usually only commute on Fridays as Monday through Thursday I carpool with a good buddy which is still cheaper than gas on the bike. Also, if I have a choice between my bike or truck in bad weather the truck will always win!

I get to ride in the HOV = 30 mins to downtown.
Plus, the parking permit was only $12 for the semester and bike parking is right next to the main building's elevators/stair well.

Those who drive their cars to work over commuting on your bike - WHY?
Wait you work down town? Lets grab lunch sometime!

It is my stress therapy on 2 wheels when I leave work and head home.
It has opened a new world and people to me and I have made great friends due to sharing the passion for riding.
It is guaranteed to leave me with a huge smile. Even after my low side.

I've gone track, and it's awesome. However, with that said, I still love riding the streets. So for me, it just comes down to a love of riding, no matter it be street or track.

But I can understand how each of us are differrent, and what we get out of riding, is as individual as we ourselves are.

Because I had an hour long commute at 3 in the afternoon with a lot of red lights, and I had to dress business casual for work. Bike was for fun. Car with air conditioning was for commuting (at least during the summer).

I normally arrive at school about 7AM, hit the gym, shower and go to class! If I'm sweaty, it's not from the ride. And with my gym locker and all the cabinets in the lab, I can wear whatever I want and change after a shower.

My life if pretty good.

Would love to- even though I have a Ween, I'm always up for lunch!

Only problem is that I tutor, have aerobics classes, and do geo chem research. All that interferes with actually sitting down and eating rather than inhaling a few hard boiled eggs, or instant oatmeal or grits (I have a fridge and microwave in my little geo-physics lab). Sometimes I even have tuna! Oh- and I'm poor.

Minor fix there

I filled my ninja 250r up for the labor day ride yesterday and got a whoppin' 72mpg! I have to dress casual for work week , so I'm waiting patiently for the temperature to drop before I HOV in.

I also get closer school parking when I take my bike! I took it to campus this past Saturday for a lab before a football game took place. The parking lot Nazis tried to tell me I couldn't park my cycle in the stadium lot next to my lab building. Hello! Motorcycle parking is *free* at my school and it's not like I'm taking up tailgating real estate. Hehe, they let me through.
