No change it to mainly highways to get there, hit backroads on the way back.

Worst feeling is to be exhausted and still have half of a long trip to go.

OK, here is the Google Map route from HAK to Port Huron on highways.
1,375 miles, 22 hours by car. I figure 3-400 miles a day (4 days)

Roadie: HAK to Kinlynn's hometown

My longest bike trip was 17hrs. It wasnt fun but I assure you will need to add time for at least one flat tire, overheating and all the other joys of riding. If you're going to ride that far and in those types of conditions up North, you'll need to plan around the trip. I'd push for 600miles a day since otherwise you're going to be sitting around instead of getting to your destination. As you ride further north and hit ice and snow, you're going to want to be well rested so prepare a complete day for the last length of the journey.

If you're riding with people that aren't comfortable going extended distances, you are at their mercy so choose your riding buds carefully. My proposal would be the equivelant of three full forest rides a day; snack during gas ups and a full meal in the morning and one in the evening.

I'm down, and I have one of the least comfortable seats ever.
but I'm hardly on it.
Riding is riding I do whatever I can to ride as long as possible.
