we had a run in with a trooper in conroe today and it ended up bad

Today around 3 me and 2 other guys were cruising willis on a back road going to greins lake house on Conroe we were probably doing 50-60 following a car on a 2 lane road. I was on my 1000 rr and so was one of my buddies (JGrein05 on here) was also on a 100rr and another buddy was on a zx10. We were all geared up and eveything. We saw a trooper so we slowed down to the speed limit which was 45 and sure enough he ripped around and turned on the lights, so we pulled over and waited for him to get out. He automatically starts yelling and getting off saying we were doing 80 and how we could have killed yourselfs ect. Since i work in the law enforcement field i was respectful and so was everyone else i was with so we gave him our licenses and insurance and he automatically started checking registration, inspection and vins ect. Well he comes out of the car and tells me that my license is suspended for a 100 dollar surcharge (which i didnt know about) and my bike was getting towed. We could see the lakehouse and was about 100 yards away, so i tried to talk him into letting me push the bike there or letting another buddy ride it while i walk. He says no and the wrecker driver shows up, i tried to talk him into dropping it for 200 bucks and he says no, so they take off and i ride with the driver to the lake house and he says the same dps officer pulled over a bike last night and they dude took off and they couldn't find him, so that's why he is . I had to pay 250 to pick it up from impound and to top it off i looked it over at the lot and didnt see anything but getting it home i see they dropped in on the side and the stator cover is scratched and so is a few other things. So i got a 80 and a 45 and a driving without a license. sucks.

Six couldve been worse , same thing happened to me but in my truck and dos arrested me, impounded truck went to Galveston county , bailed out and couldn't get my truck because I had no dl. Had a friend get it out and I drove home, payed the surcharge and got my ticket dismissed and then reinstated after court. I think you got off pretty easy as to me. But all In all it sucks.

That trooper was a , He told me that I was endangering everyone around me. And I wasn't even speeding that bad. Then he tells me I was doing 80 I was like, No way! Then he gives all three of us a ticket saying we were all doing 80.
Then as we are finished up and the trooper is leaving, Some SQUID drives past us on a R1 with no helmet on and in shorts and the trooper goes in the opposite way!

Odd that he didnt arrest you for riding without a valid license.

I was arrested for the very same thing, and was under the impression thats its now MANDATORY.

There is no way he clocked us cuz he saw us as we both were coming up to the top of a hill and we were driving toward each other.

ya, the crazy thing is that i had no idea i had a surcharge. i have not had anything in the mail and i had not heard anything. even in my background check to work at the sheriffs office. The ticked said speed ALLEGED 80. If i would have known i owed 100 i would have paid it no problem.

honesty goes a far way.

on way to squoddy/weenies house last night i got pulled over by DPS.

i was speeding (73 in 65)

told them straight up.

1. i dont have my bike license
2. my tags are out.
3. i have no muffler
4. i DID get my inspection recently
5. i DO have insurance on the bike.
6. i have no speedo on the bike due to car backin over it in parking lot a while back...converting a working headlight meant lossing SOMETHING usefull.

i then let them know. no excuses, but this is my reason for such. i lost my job 6 months ago. wife left at the same time. i just picked up work last week. i get paid this friday comming up. told them all i have is a dead empty house, no water/lights..gas. my clothes and my back is all i have. wife has everything else. yes i am behind, but i am working on "it"....but i have no issues or arguments for you needing to do "your job"..

i got away with a WARNING...

thing is i have been getting pulled over EVERY WEEK for the past 2 months by DPS, HPD, SHERRIFF....all WARNINGS

I was feeling sympathetic until I read that line. Screw it, you asked for it and so did your buddies that were riding with you. They've been saying it for months. They're tired of motorcyclists without licensing and they are going to start cracking down.

Nothing against you. Just MO.

Not mandatory at all. Completely up to the officer's discretion. They are however starting to crack down more by impounding the bikes on the spot. Seems to get people's attention pretty quickly and doesn't fill up the jails.

Sucks but apparently the Trooper has more issues than you.

I don't have bad luck with the cops- lately they are my friends. But, I have my 'M', ins, reg, and inspection all current on the bike - they appreciate that.

Tonight I had to go to the gas station (Flyin J at 242) to fill up a can. My neighborhood cop - he's stopped us in the neighborhood a couple of times for riding the four wheelers on the road, and he arrested Tonyt when we asked him to.

He was there with his Sargeant and saw me, so he came over to chat. He saw Donkey in the front seat and asked about him. He joked that I was filling the can illegally (I had it in the back of the truck and not on the ground), and he told me that his sargeant was the 'bad cop'.

So- his Sargeant comes over and notices that my registration is out on my truck. I told him I knew it was overdue. Then we talked about bikes. Turns out he rides a CBR1000. Now we're buddies.

I had a surcharge for a ticket- they will charge you every year for three years, so pay attention in Jan for your next installment. 'I didn't know' won't work.

Considering you haven't moved- it comes to the address on your ticket/license.

I'm sure there are other ways to find out, though. And you cannot pay it all up front. You can only pay it once a year for three years. It's BS, if you ask me.
