Maintenance/Repairs

Since I am looking for pre-owned bikes, what maintenance or repairs should I do once I get a bike.

For reference:
I might be getting an 06 Ninja 250 or an 01 Eliminator 125. Both motorcycles are below 4k miles.

I will only be using the bike around 10 miles of backroads. 90% of the said road is 2 way - 1 lane each road. around 50% of w/c speeds are 30 and the other 50% posted limit is 45.

I do not intend to use it for freeway/stunt/race or even above 5k rpms (for now). If I'm still alive in a year, Ill be using it for a 4 mile trip on the feeder to my new college. Posted speed is either 45/55.

Thanks in advance.

Since everyone has replied that a Ninja 250 would be better, lets change topic some...

I found one for 2000$. Red with 8000 miles. The previous owner probably pushed the bike its limit to a certain extent because he brags that he has raced some cars.

What kind of repairs/maintenance am I looking at with a bike that has that kind of mileage. I might be able to ask him to bring the bike to Motorcycles Unlimited since the bike is drivable and has updated tags.
