Why avoid Rossi? You can never be the GOAT if you don't beat the GOAT head to head. I'm pretty sure it was his plan to stay in WSBK all along, get more familiar with the euro tracks before going after Rossi. But I will be very happy to see him on the GP grid in 2011.

Looks like I'm going to WSB race at Miller next year. Been to Laguna two times for MotoGP race and it was great, but they can barely fill the grid these days. WSB FTW

Thought for sure he and Toseland would swap rides for next year. That is what I was hoping atleast. An all Texan Tech3 GP team!!!

It's all about timing.

No doubt, Spies wants a factory Yamaha ride in GP. With JLo signing on for another contract with the FIAT team, and Rossi not going anywehere (of course ), if Spies jumped now he would more than likely be at a satelite team a little longer than he would like to. He's probably waiting for the right moment that allows him to slide into a satelite team for one season, then jump to a factory ride the following.

Plus......like Buck said, he knows it would serve him well to learn the euro tracks for another year, in a class that he is already dominating.

Personally, although I'd like to see him in GP, I'm enjoying the fights in WSBK.

New rules in MotoGP state that rookie riders are not allowed to be on factory teams and must ride for satelite teams

I think you might have misunderstood his statement.

He stated that Spies would probably end up at a satelite team a little longer than he wanted to. Then stated that Spies is probably waiting for when he can jump to GP and ride with a satelite team for one season before taking a factory seat.

Good move! He ain't avoiding anybody. Yamaha wants to win their first WSBK championship. I'm sure there is some hyooge bonus monies waiting to be paid out when Spies wins it for them.
