New from the SW

Hello!

I recently had the urge to buy a motorcycle. Partly because I want to lengthen the life of my DD. I do have a couple of questions so expect me to make a thread or two about them later.

Thanks. I forgot to state that I am looking for either a Kaw elim 125 or ninja 250 for starters.

I found someone selling an 01 elim 125 but only has 2100 miles on it. Would I be putting alot of maintenance work on it?

Welcome! and FYI, I wouldn't ride that 125 on the street. There are better options out there. I would wait until after your MSF class to buy a bike. Just my .02

Welcome aboard! Awesome Cycles is fun...you'll like it.

I imagine he's saying no 125 on the street because it's a small bike. Ninja 250 should be a great starter bike though.

Have fun and be safe.

Welcome to the site and yes 125 is way to small. But for sure take the MSF course. Oh and ride safe.

Too underpowered for the street. If you want a small cruiser, the Yamaha 250 Star, Suzuki GZ250, or Honda Rebel 250 are all better choices.

The Eliminator just doesn't have the get up and go to be a street rider.

Thanks for all the input. RacerX, I noticed you were here even before you posted in my thread

I will only be using the eliminator for around 10 miles of backroads. 90% of the said road is 2 way - 1 lane each road. around 50% of w/c speeds are 30 and the other 50% posted limit is 45.

I do not intend to use it for freeway. If I'm still alive in a year, Ill be using it for a 4 mile trip on the feeder to my new college. Posted speed is either 45/55.

I would love to get a ninja 250 but if the 125 will fulfill my needs, I would go with it. -> Tells you what kind of a person I am

I do understand that people here are more knowledgeable than I am but they made those comments without knowing my intentions for the bike and where/how Ill be using it. Maybe after looking at the last post I made, peoples mind would change. If not, I will definitely go for a ninja.

Also, I have contacted that 2nd link and no reply. That first link is recent. Ill send him and email and see.
