I put a full Akrapovic race system on my bike and it runs like a raped ape.

I only rode it once since i put the exhaust on and i have had no problems. Im sure it is better to have a power commander but i dont think it is a must.

Im going to get one tomorrow though just because im trying to get every bit of performance out of my bike but i dont think i would absolutely need it if i didnt want it.

I'd put the Power Commander on it anyway. It made it to the top of the list of the first things I put on a bike.

Too much fun to play with and solves any little "quirks".

My .02

As to whether or not he NEEDS it........contact the Guru (Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited)

to get a custom map you have to have it dyno tuned

a generic map will work just fine for street use. Spending the money on custom tuning for street use is a waste of money IMO. Im sure it can cure flat spots and minor problems, but the 2 HP gained from a custom map is useless unless you are a trackday junkie. (a wise man recently taught me this!!)

kind of a waste to put exhaust and a power commander on a bike but not use it to its full potential, no?
