That's nothing. Sounds like the guy and his girl got off easy.

it's sad to see stuff like this.

some friends and i were headed to LA the casino's friday night and on the way out there we were passed by 3 sport bikes flying by at probably 100+mph...the the guys were all wearing long pants, jackets and helmets and they all three had passenger - females with no helmet, wearing some of the shortest shorts i've ever seen, tank tops and flip flops

i seriously hope that nothing happened to them

Sheeeeit I always make my passengers wear my gear, if they don't have their own, and tell them straight up that they could die or be seriously hurt and that its up to them accepting the risk. I've scared several friends and women off from riding by being frank but, I couldn't live with it otherwise if anything happened.

Perfect example of the unexpected. Things could have been worse, and I'm glad they weren't. I read somewhere and maybe someone else knows but, leathers are good for a 100 yards(apprx) and jeans less then 10 feet. Gear up people because you never know.

"Denim jeans have a tear resistance of about 4.5 pounds and, if you're lucky, will only protect you for about 5 feet of a slide."

"Here is an interesting fact. According to the European standard abrasion test, normal jeans last 0.6 seconds, while protective motorcycle pants will last 5 seconds or more. Think about 5 seconds of protection versus about 0.5 seconds. If you have to think very hard, you have been riding your motorcycle without a helmet again. Go with the Kevlar protected, re-enforced jeans."

You noticed all that when they were flying by you at 100+ MPH?

i still don't understand how is you are going 5 blocks from your house, that a corner can sneak up on you, on a literbike or something sure, but on a slow 500?

i can't imagine how many corners can sneak up on you in 5 blocks on a 500 though. 5 blocks is at most a mile... and he doesn't know the roads 1 mile from his house like the back of his hand? if he knew the store was there then he'd been on that road before. I'd understand if he is used to being on a 500 and took someone else's 1000 out with a passenger and overshot a corner... but on your own 500 that you are used to and in an area you should be VERY familiar with? something sounds odd
