S! MotoHouston!

Houston Performance Driving.com invites MotoHouston to Midnight 1320 @ LMP!

MotoHouston has been a great supported of this track event. Yes it is mainly for 4 wheels and a seat. However we do have a bike class. We are very open to adding more bike classes if more bikes want to race. Really would like to thank the members of this forum for your attendence on the last Midnight 1320!

The 2nd Midnight 1320 of 2009 is on the calendar! Houston Performance Driving (HPD) will be hosting another "street racing" style track night @ Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy, TX.

HPD has adding some new features and classes to it's structure for October. The HPD Staff and LMP Staff will focus on true street cars and trucks. Dragsters and trailer queens will not be allowed for Street Wars. Sorry please understand this a street style event. Thank you.

Please check your calendars and get this date set. Take the time now to start getting your ride ready for the event.

I'd love to see a "no lowering, no stretching" class. That would be challenging. You'd need a tech in the staging lanes so it doesn't turn into the TX Shootout style of run anything in any class (just about).

Thanks for the info. We are still on a learning curve on our bike class. We will look at some past bike events and look at their classes for street bikes. HPD will do everything possible to open the event up to bike racers. Please help us out so we can set it up ASAP.

Thanks MotoHouston!

The index is possible as well.

if its not a bracket race or index race, you will kill your turnout for future events. If its heads up, run what you brung, once 1 or 2 really fast guys show up, no one will come back in the future thinking they have no chance at all.

Roger that. Our goal is to most definitely keep the bikes coming back. The research is getting down to find the middle ground and keep the bike side happy. We are looking into index racing for the bike classes only.

Troy.

Rules for the Classes set yet? Will trailering for the street bike class be allowed? Will there be wheelbase restrictions, airshifters, etc? What are the requirements?

Dont forget about the bikes!

I think if you just make a street and pro class that will kill turn out. I would consider mine street because pro would kill me. I wouldnt meet street specs. though. Index seems the way to go. No lower/no stretch would either be people who ride almost factory set up and are slow or guys who are gonna end up on their backs. If your not at least strapped in the front your gonna be running mid to high 10's.Neither sounds entertaining.

Hey Racers!

Guys I want to apologize for not getting back to this forum quicker. The structure of the HPD event Midnight 1320 is not able to accommodate the index racing for bikes at this time. This is mainly due to my lack of knowledge about that style of racing and not hosting an event of that type before.

HPD will keep the Bike Class open for this event knowing that turn out will be low for the bikes. However, what we promise you guys is that the next Midnight 1320 will incorporate a better race system for bikes. Something that will keep things competitive and exciting. The trick is to get that aspect into the theme of a "Street Racing". HPD Staff will work very hard to get the proper structure in place for the first Midnight 1320 of 2010.

If you feel that you're not going to be the "fastest bike" out there. Then I would say do not enter the event. We are going to keep the class open for those who set up to the plate. However, we don't want to discourage bike racers for the future Midnight 1320s. We want you guys to be happy and exited. So wait until we have a better set up for you.

We still would like to see a lot of bikes maybe spectating and having a cruise caravan out to the track to watch.

Thanks for all the positive feedback MotoHouston. Sorry HPD could not get the job done in time for you. Best wishes.

Troy Dixon - HPD Staff.

Had a blast at the event. Turnout was a little low, but allowed you to make as many passes as you liked. I took Second Place on my 03 GSXR750 with a 10.17 ET at 132 MPH. Also cut a .0005 Reaction Time on one pass on Pro Tree!

Also talked to troy after the event and he mentioned at the next midnight 1320 he would try to appeal to the bike guys by running a 9.50 index class.

Cant wait till next time!

Also, got a pretty sweet trophy for second place and a T-shirt for the reaction time.
