Riding in Traffic

Do you just go with the flow? Ride on the shoulder? Lane Split?

Are the last two legal?

I have driven on the shoulder twice. Once on the beltway when I was late for work and once on I-10 in August when I thought I was going to have a heat stroke. Both times I only did it when traffic was stopped and I was going around 10 mph.

Is lane splitting legal in california? It seemed like everyone did it there.

with those stupid cagers doing the same thing on the shoulder its dangerous to ride the shoulder sometimes. And it is illegal.

Yes, but in low speed traffic. Even at stop lights and signs. That's cool. Everyone takes advantage of it at high speeds though.

I've been riding on the street for a little over a year.

I didn't take the class because I couldn't find a class that was less than a month a half away and I needed the M on my license cause I already had my bike. I raced moto for years so I know enough about riding, even though I'm sure I could learn alot of stuff.

lol ed too funny man to funny.

I lane split all the time in traffic no its not leagal and no its not safe if you arent confident on that bike....I take the shoulder every once in a while like if i get into a pack of 18 wheeliers or something that i cant split through but i dont like to freeking nails and all kinds of other just waiting for your tire....

Sounds like you would beninifit alot from the msf cource and my recomendation is to take it...Dont think im trying to be a or anything im just being honest!

while i don't mind lane-splitting ( it was a bill in TX house, that didn't pass) i HATE when people ride down the emerg. lane........maybe i should follow the next guy in my car.......it's no diff. what makes that rider think they are so special that they can run down that lane, where an 18 wheeler could fit. now lane splitting, that's using the advantage of size that bikes have.

no risk IMO= no reward........riding down the shoulder = little/no risk.
