The speed limiter on a zx-14 is controlled by the speedometer sensor, it is not like the Hayabusa that does it by gear and rpm. The TRE for a zx-14 opens the secondary throttlebodie's butterflies. The zx-14 keeps the sec. flies closed until a certain rpm to torque. They stay open completely in 5th & 6th gear. The TRE tells the ecu it is in 5th gear all the time. The TRE has no affect on the speedlimiter.
I have a Speedohealer for the limiter and have removed the secondary flies on my 07.
Thank you for the correct answer.

Before you guys say I am wrong too, I will correct myself. The TRE opens the throttle body secondary butterflies. There are no secondary throttle bodies.

So after two pages of we are back to needing a speedo healer and getting a GPS so you have a CLUE how fast you are going...

Too bad you don't have an 00 ZX12 then you wouldn't have a restriction in the first place.. LOL!!!!

The speedo is definately 8-10% off. The bike in stock form is restricted in every gear except 6th. Take the flys out and the bike is the way it should have come from factory. I had three generic maps and they were all in my opinion, but I am very picky - either it is right or wrong. Had the bike dynotuned and the hp and torque went up, mileage is better, throttle controll is much better and runs cooler. If you want your 14 to run cooler...replace pipe, custom tune, engine ice or comparable, ceramic coat mid pipe and header.

I got a better fix for you sell the KAW and BUY A BUSA!!!...and by the way at TRE fools the computer into thinking its in 4th gear, if you try to buy a "smart TRE" you can probably find one that will eliminate the governor. Quite posibly there are programmers that eliminate the governor as well.

Point is how do you bypass the governor on a ((((((( ZX14)))))) just list the methods. No "I think". If you have done it then you know and can share. I appreciate the feed back on extensive knowledge everyone knows. But you don't know what you don't know.

Governor on the 14 runs off the speedo. So you use a Speedo Healer to correct the reading for your gearing. Or, make it read low so you can go faster "actual" speed.

And check out the kawasakiworld forums for people that actually "know"...

TLR is a great bike without question. Best sounding V-twin sports bike. But when it comes to flat out speed; no match for 14.

Sound like a plan. Busu/14 are different animals than 1k, unless you have ridden one you just don't know what a smile really. j/k

Yes the Speed O healer should be the way to go.

I put one on my Busa when I went +2 on rear and the instructions specifically use the Kawaski ZX14 has an example of how on that bike it can be used to get passed the speed limiter.

I think it works like this

You get two mph mapings in the healers meomory.
you can set one for the correct speed with your gear combinations.
good for real information.

You set the other range much lower.
Example 100 mph real speed = 50 mph indicated.
Now when you hit a buk you wil be doing 2 buks

Well thats how I recall the instructions, I have only set one of the memories to read correct, I do not use the other.
Hits a Buck and 3/4 no problem, several times have not tried to go further but its was still pulling hard, you go through a lot of street.

Good luck

Very dangerous to take your eyes off the road at those speeds. But the Speed O healer will get around the limiter on your bike , however I suggest you have a track were it can be measured so your not trying to look at the speed O.
