Inbox Almost Full Warning VS Inbox Full Message

I noticed on another VBulletin forum I am on that it didn't just drop the messages once you reach 100% and then send you an email notifying you that someone sent you a message but it did not go through because your inbox is full.

Instead it sends out an email when your mailbox is 90% full, notifying you that your mailbox is almost full and you should delete some messages to ensure you can continue to receive messages from other users.

I think this would be a much better option. There have been many a times I get a PM only to notice my box is at 100% and I have to go delete them, then send a PM to the person who tried to send one to me to let them know that my inbox is now cleaned to send the message again.

Agreed. But somehow my MH one is always full. the other site I noticed the warning email on i have a 100 message limit and it took me a year to reach 90%. I just searched my email for all emails containing "new private message motohouston" (cause i never delete email). I have 3138 emails from receiving PM's on motohouston. It would appear I do my best to bring the MH server crawling on its knees.

Looks like the powers that be answered your call. Last night I got an email warning that my PMs were 90% full.

Haha no joke? That's cool.

I was actually talking to SolRacer yesterday about the ability for users to send each other emails rather than PMs.

Many other VBulletins support it, not sure if it is disabled or if its just an addin that needs to be installed.

But basically one could use that and disable PMs (if they so chose). If someone wanted to send you a message they would just click your name and click Send Message, just like with Send PM, and it will take them to a page with a form for their email to send you an email, then it will come across on your email as from the sender and you can simply reply to the emails.

I received the 90% warning as well, I think is cool.

Regarding the e-mail, I believe Arturo C has something like that in his signature.

Yes but he actually has his email address in his sig, my email address is not something I feel like posting publicly, spam email these days is incredibly insane and I don't need to be bothered with spam all day long on my phone.

The VB system actually does not even show the sender your email address, it sends the email for them, when you respond to the email than they see your address and continue to communicate back and forth likewise.
