Thinking about getting one, does anyone know much about these. Any help would be appreciated.

If it handles better, that would help, looks cooler. I like posing so this might be a good fit

Great bike, but I would'nt say the handling was any better than a 600.
The power band is much fatter and the torque will pull out of the corners without having to fumble around with the gears too much.
Fit and finish is top notch. The best feature to feeling and sound you get from the engine. Just something that has to be experienced.

the valve adjustments on my 1098 cost about $800 every 7500 miles, so you will need to factor in this and other costs before jumping into the 848. it will take you a good 3000 miles to get used to the low end torque before you start to get comfortable and go fast into the turns!

Full Factory Support

Ducati Announces the "Forza Ducati" Purachase Program on All New Models

Cupertino, Calif (15 July 2009) - Ducati and FreedomRoad Financial are excited to launch a new retail financing program, FORZA DUCATI, which will include a low 6.75% finance rate for the entire range of Ducati models.

Running July 10 through October 31, the FORZA DUCATI program is significant in that it incorporates the entire Ducati lineup. This means all models and all years are eligible for 6.75% financing at terms up to 48 months, providing they are brand new and being registered for the first time.

In addition to a low finance rate on the model of the customer's choice, Ducati is offering two exciting programs as an additional benefit to those purchasing a new motorcycle. During the program period new Ducati owners may choose between generous trade-in allowances, or a year of "Full Factory Support" on select models.

The Trade-in Allowance program assists owners of older Ducatis and other manufacturer's models in obtaining one of Ducati's latest handmade motorcycles with minimal out-of-pocket costs. This allowance is available for Hypermotard, Monster 1100 and 848 Superbike models; making the purchase of a new Ducati significantly more affordable.

An alternative benefit to those purchasing a new Ducati is the ability to incorporate the "Full Factory Support" service promotion; which enables a Ducati owner to simply ride and enjoy their new bike. This covers the costs for the first year of regularly scheduled maintenance updates on 2008 and 2009 Ducati models. All a customer needs to do for qualification is purchase their new Ducati from a participating dealer by October 31, fill out the program enrollment form and start riding.

Offer valid through authorized U.S. Ducati dealers only. Offer valid on new previously untitled Ducati motorcycles. Financing available through FreedomRoad Financial (FRF), a division of Evergreen Bank Group. APR of 6.75% for 48 month term is available to qualified applicants only. Not all buyers will qualify and if approved may receive a higher rate and higher payment, depending on credit score. Some buyers will require a down payment in order to receive credit approval. Your actual terms may vary. Other charges may apply. Subject to model availability and dealer participation. Subject to credit approval by FRF, not all applicants will qualify. Financing offer can change or be cancelled at anytime. See dealer for details.

IT'S THE BIGGEST POS BIKE EVER!! Mine is in the shop more than on the road. recalls after recalls, and alot of "known problems" that still aren't recalls yet. HA to "TOMTOM" for his post. the finish is HORRIBLE. no clear coat whatsoever, and i have so many chips on my paint, i just accept it now.

get a new R1.
I agree! my 1098 is uncomfortable as and is very clunky below 3000 rpm, dont have any complaints about the tank yet

Have you riden a V-twin? some people don't like it after being used to an inline four... but the white 848 is my dreambike (insert drooling smiley here/ couldn't find one)
