I have BCBS, however it sucks when you wreck and get knocked out and regain consciousness in an out-of-netowrk hospital :(

I don't have any plans of dropping my insurance, however I think I'm going to use the 'no habla, no social security' method next time I'm hospitalized. I might as well get SOME use out of my tax doll hairs.

I have a little bit of coverage from work and I also have some VA coverage as well. Enough that it will do the job. I am waiting on my VA claim from 3 years ago to be re-worked so that I have my Disabled Vet rating. Then I will have more coverage through VA.

If you are in the hospital and use this method, you are gonna be in pain for a long time.

If we don't stop Obama we (the ones with health insurance) will have to pay more money for health insurance.

On the track you are in a different boat all together and there is no "other" vehicle to blame as you are assuming all the liability. I am not sure but I doubt most insurances will a) cover your bike at a track / race function but they might b) you will receive any medical coverage from your motorcycle insurance company (like progressive, gieco, etc).

If you have medical insurance through work or perhaps independently purchased you will have some level of coverage if you do get injured, even on the track. In fact most insurance companies will only require a deductible for ER, doctor's visits, surgeries, etc. The main point of this thread was originally about life flight costs.

I read something the other day that was just infuriating to me! I am not a veteran, never served our country, but I have lots of love and respect for you guys that do! I read something that said our veterans coming back from Irak and other countries are dieing on bikes and the federal government has ammended the benefits to their families. Basically stating that if you die on a bike and didn't have on the "proper" gear and have taken rider training they were not going to pay your retirement to your loved ones!!!! Total BS, what a load of ! Sorry guys, go die for us but just don't do it by accident at home or you are screwed!

Sorry for the novel folks, just do yourself and all of us a favor and get health insurance before you get on the track! I don't want to see any of you questioning going to the hospital or whatever because of costs to you or your family! You can get a good plan outside of work (if they don't offer it, work is the best place for cost purposes though) for pretty cheap if you are under 35 and healthy! For you military guys, write your congressman and tell him how disappointed you are!

So, What about the (sometimes huge) portion that the insurance does not cover? Who pays for that if they can't?

What if you lose your job and individual insurance is not possible for you? Say...you have a condition that make your rates sky rocket. What then? Stop living, because something may happen? I'm really curious what some of you would say about this.
