Riding choice, solo or group?

Took a 300+ mile mental health ride today.

There is no way I would have covered that much with someone else.

Plus I had to stop at random spots and take pics....

I left out with a general direction, was going to try and make Freeport with out any 4 lane roads. Got turned around by some MAJOR t-storms out in the middle of nowhere between Chocolate bay and Freeport so I backtracked to Angleton, then went out towards West Columbia, Damon, Needville, Rosenburg, then to Fulsher on some way back roads. Came back to Cinco ranch and caught Westiemer and took it all the way back to the Galeria.
Went down Richmond then down to main, took it all the way back out to
Stafford, got on Murphy and then back to 6 and back home.

Westiemer is FOOKED from the beltway in, how in the do you ride that pavement in the rain?

Anyway, do you prefer to ride alone or with others? Inquiring minds want to know...

Pic's...

Small group, read less than 5 people.
While maybe less of a "social" event, it's less likely to draw LEO attention, have someone go down or get separated. I used to do the big group rides, but found I spent less time actually riding.

I always ride alone.

I like to ride at my own pace and stop wherever I want. The group rides made of mostly sportbikes ride too fast for me. I do not have an issue with riding fast but not in the back roads..!!

The first issue is the two lane roads, a lot of risk for a head on collision, plus in most curves cagers are always crossing the center line invading your line..!!!! locals are very unfriendly and is very easy to get busted by the pigs, also too many critters in the roads. I feel more comfortable riding in the city. When I ride the back roads, is always towards the Gulf Coast like going to Freeport, Bay City, Rockport.

i normally commute alone, and whenever i have time for a real ride, i like to go alone, or with someone that i know will go at a slower pace.
i went on 1 group ride with 'yall', the noob forest ride last year near christmas, and that was mostly good, but there were some parts where i felt i couldnt slow down because i'd have dudes running into me. the pace of this noob ride was too fast, and i made my mind up about group rides after that ordeal. it didnt help that it was below freezing when we started and i had a bad headache all day.
anyways, i like to ride solo, because then i dont have anyone to to.

I remember this ride, was my first "forest" ride. I felt the exact same way as you. But then i went on another forest ride after I had more experience. They didnt take it as fast, but I was hoping they did!

I dont like riding solo, prefer a few good friends or meeting new ppl.

Majority of the time, Solo is how I used to ride when I still rode on the streets. Either solo or ridin with my brother. I would ride spontaneously, so I would go get my bike and tear up the backroads, come home and continue on with my day.

Either way. A couple good friends and no particular destination is a recipe for a great day. I miss my buddy Tim; he was always up for a ride whenever.. called in sick more than once to go off riding during the week..

One thing about riding with the same group is you all learn each others style and pace and you have no surprises.

Group rides are cool too, just have to pick the right ones. Much over 10 gets too busy for me.

Either way, usually small groups.......5-6 people. 5 years the only time someone has gone down was when the group was larger than that. This year I have done a lot more riding alone.
