has anyone ever sold anything on craigslist? I just posted the g/f's car on about an hour ago and already i've gotten 3 responses from foriegners. just not too sure what to think about this deal. Is there any history of shady deals going on in craigslist' sales???

i have a jet ski on craigslist right now, and you will get the scammers contacting you. I could care less what nationality purchases my goods, but it will be with a cashiers check, in my name, deposited in my bank account, before you touch my jetski. If it's too good to be true, it's a scam.

dunno, i'd answer the email, and ask to meet. it's like anytime you sell a used car.

if he comes back w/ some B/S about shipping the car or refund $, just delete the email.

i have sold a good amount of stuff via craigslist, just think about it this way, if you where going to buy a used car from them wouldnt you want to know that info? only problems your gonna run into is like racer said, if they want you to ship the car or wont pay you in cash then tell them to go ahead and find a different car

yea that email sounds legit. if you feel uncomfortable replay back with an email, and ask for his contact info (phone number). say that you are really swamped with work and everythign right now and would have to contact him when you are free. also again never ship your item until you have payment in your bank and is verified, or if peoepl offer you a ludacris amount of money so that they can have it.

Sounds like a scam to me. These scammers never use "normal" english, so it can be pretty obvious sometimes (Question #4). I stay away from any sales that just have a yahoo or msn address. And like stated above, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

makes sense, goto ebay many dealers list the VIN #, and even include a carfax report.

i sold my sisters old car on there and there are a load of scammers.

1. meet in person
2. take cash
3. if they offer a check, wait until the bank clears it before you handover the car

this might sound dumb but in my experience most of the scammers use big words or words that you don't normally here in a casual email. I guess they try to sound professional

there are fake bank checks also, also fake money orders. your bank may cash it then 10 days later your bank calls u and u are responsible for the money
cash only or from a local bank that u can call them. lots of scammers buy on sundays as banks are closed.
