RC51 or 'busa

so kinda in the market for a "new" bike

my riding has changed over the yrs and nowdays all i do is commute, 20mi R/T too and from work.

lookin at either spending $5-6k for an '02+ RC51, hopefully get it w/ some nice bits on it.

or spending $8-9k on a '08 busa (blue/gold)

Do i need either bikes potential, NAW

always loved the RC, that rumbles it makes...........BOING! like the looks and honda quality.

busa solid bike, nice and smooth like butta for my short commute, which is mostly an open frwy, at this time.

i might get in a few trackdays over the next yrs.......maybe
doubt i'll get to do any grand tours, like my trip to CA way back

rc51, you dont see many around especially not as many as busa's, plus the power of the mighty v-twin and all of its awesomeness can be yours

If you plan on doing track days, RC 51

Busa is more comfy and better suited if you want to dabble with drag racing, and has more power all the way around.

Both good choices given my experience in the industry. It sounds like you have a personal choice to make Ed. Personally, I love the torque provided by Honda's big twin, not to mention the nice purr that comes with it. I think Honda's fit/finish/reliability over the long haul slightly edges out Suzuki, but that's marginal at best. Another thought, and you've probably considered this, is future parts availibility. I doubt parts will become scarce for the RC51 anytime in the distant future, but you'll be able to get Busa parts on every street corner. As far as commuting on the bike, I think the big busa takes the cake, it is a "sport touring" bike afterall. Buy what you want, I don't think you can go wrong either way IMO.

no trackdays in my immediate future, though i'm not selling my leathers.

naw not into drag, but it's a better tourer which i'd prolly do more then drag.

if i did get an RC i'd put risers, like Heli bars or somethng if it was 20 min. unbearable.....

honda seats are planks. The RC51, doubly so. If all you're going to do is commute get the busa.

WTH the guy on Speedzilla copied my screen name!

He does have good taste though

I think I only saw 2 or 3 RC51's when I lived in Indianapolis.

You don't need either one for commuting. Get yourself a 250. MSF?

I've had both, go with the Busa. The RC isn't a good commuter, it will get hot in traffic and it is always a warm ride to begin with.
The Busa.......it will just purr along forever.

my commute is 10 mi, and a total of 4-5 stoplights, 3 close together on hwy 6, a 7-8 mile stretch up 99, so it's not a "reg" commute like bumper to bumper...

no trackdays in your future? Busa.

The Busa can still turn great for its size on the backroads as well.

if you get the Busa everyone's gonna be like " when are you gonna chrome the frame and stretch the swingarm, how fast does it go, whens the candy paint coming" j/k
The RC is a beautiful bike and kind of a classic, plus with a good exhaust you cant beat that tone, it barks at you. But then the question is " Will I need to do 186 mph" if not go with the 51 , jmo

rc51 will cook your . Literally. They are twice as worse if you deal with any traffic jams. Busa doesn't get hot, even in traffic. Busa is comfy, rc is not. Busa gets good fuel mileage(45), rc gets terrible(25). Rc has great brakes and a wonderful transmission, busa doesn't. Busa can handle slow speeds(traffic) rc cannot. I have had both bikes. Pm me if you got any other question X.
