Snap, Crackle and Pop - from my gears????

Doesn't sound good. 1st gear take-off makes all kinds of sounds like this, but 2nd and up don't. Even under lower-acceleration starts. I'm worried! I still have power, but with this noise. This is an '01 FZ1.

Any ideas what I can expect to hear from Motorcycles Unlimited? :/

Probably dry / misadjusted chain.
Swing by in the a.m. and we'll check it / lube and adjust it for you, no charge.

Sweet! Didn't think of that! It does sort of sound like chain slapping the stay... :P

I will bring by as soon as I can - maybe time for a new chain.

Thanks!

I've heard that sound before, and it ended up being my front drive sprocket. Missing a tooth on top of a worn chain, replaced it with acceleration sprocket and chain set. made a huge difference ...and the sound is gone!!!
