Arrow Lorenzo to Ducati????? maybe!!

http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/151...undecided.html
Quote:
Lorenzo's MotoGP future still undecided?

A source close to Jorge Lorenzo has denied that a decision on the Spaniard's MotoGP future has been made, and played down reports that Lorenzo is on the brink of a move to Ducati.

During 28 MotoGP races for Fiat Yamaha, Lorenzo has taken three wins and 14 podiums - handing him the 2008 rookie of the year title and second in the 2009 standings, behind team-mate Valentino Rossi, after eleven of 17 rounds.

With Lorenzo's two-year contract expiring at the end of this season, the 22-year-old's future has been the subject of intense speculation since rumours of a shock Honda switch first emerged at round two in Japan.

Honda announced at Brno that it would stick with Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, but Yamaha's hopes of finally concluding negotiations were dashed by Ducati which - against the backdrop of uncertainty over Casey Stoner's future - has made a big money offer to Lorenzo.

Some reports have even suggested that a Lorenzo-Ducati deal is as good as done.

“We are still thinking, it is not true that we are closer to Ducati,” the source told Crash.net, adding: “It is not an easy decision!”

All should be clear in around one week, to coincide with the forthcoming Indianapolis round on August 28-30: “We believe that in Indy or just before, we will say what happens with Jorge.”

Despite speculation about his likely pay increase, Lorenzo has insisted that his main focus in terms of 2010 is on-track performance.

That would suggest staying at Yamaha, but Lorenzo wants assurances that his world championship aspirations are best served by continuing as team-mate to Rossi, rather than becoming a number one rider for another factory.

“I feel great at Yamaha, we have a real family atmosphere and a very competitive bike,” Lorenzo told Crash.net earlier in the season. “But the point is how much do Yamaha really want me?

“Yamaha has a very good situation because normally they have two riders on the podium at every race, but they also have to support two riders at the same level. This is not easy. We will see if, for Yamaha, it is enough to have one competitive rider or if they want to prepare for the future.”

Reigning six time MotoGP champion Rossi has a contract with Yamaha until the end of 2010, but has hinted that he may continue racing after that date.
so potentially Stoner & Lorenzo at Ducati,
pick yourself up off the floor alrova and tell us what you make of that

For the record,
I don't think it will ever happen, JLo knows what side his bread is buttered

I hope something is officialized soon, either Honda, Ducati or Yammi. I am tired of all the bs surrounding Lorenzo.

Grinchy is right. JLo knows what bike gives him the best chances at winning. This is just a stunt to try and get Yamaha to pay him more because he's a stuck up little Spainish that somehow thinks he's better than Rossi.

Stop crashing and actually win some races, Lorenzo.......then Yamaha might pay you a little more.

I think the only reason Lorenzo is even considering the move is because he wants more money and equal equipment from Yamaha. I think it's a political move personally, I'd be shocked to see him go to Ducati.

As for Stoner, if he doesn't return, well, that just remains to be seen.

There is rumor of a straight swap between Ducati and Fiat Yamaha, Hayden for Lorenzo. That would be great for Nicky, he and Rossi get on well together. Lorenzo claims he can ride anything, love to see him try to make the Duc go.

+1
- Stoner will come back unless there is something really serious that they are hiding, so he will not go to Yamaha.
- Lorenzo wants more money and he might jump the train to ducati
- Direct swap for Hayden, Dingo doesn't mind lorenzo as a team mate
- Hayden has a 2010 option at Ducati
- Rossi will not let Dingo go to yamaha

Yamaha may wait to make a final decision until they know exactly what Spies is going to do.

I think we all know they want to retain him as soon as he jumps to GP, so it's possible they could be willing to let go of JLo and give Hayden a ride for a season or two for publicity (two of the most popular riders in all of the sport). Then when Spies is done with his satelite ride time, boot Hayden and scoop up Spies onto the factory team.

Thoughts?

I read somewhere that Yamaha will only give spies the tech3 ride if he wins the champ. Yamaha really wants to beat the ducs in WSBK and Spies seems to be their only option.

What is all this 'if' talk?

You mean 'when'.

I think Hayden has an option on 2010

how about this in the mix,
Stoner has taken Ducati to places they could only have dreamed of just a few years ago,
Stoner gets sick/tired/deflated/whatever but carries on riding and was up until very recently still in the top 3.
THEN Stoner hears that Ducati have offerred Jlo more than they currently pay him
If that's true, that's bang out of order but adds an intresting angle imo

True, also, lorenzo knows he can't take rossi down so he will go to Ducati, collect some good money for the next 2 years, he will do his best to win the WC but has an excuse not to be able to do it, rossi retires and then Lorenzo goes to Honda and takes the WC.

Is all planned, the company owns GP

Nothing I've seen or heard from Jlo directly (not his background crew!) suggests he is on anything but the same machinery!!
His setup and tyre choice differs, when he hasn't got Rossi's
