If your head is only worth $150, then buy a $150 helmet. Mine is worth quite a bit more than that to me, so I wear a Shoei X-11. I didn't start out with it, but I did work up to it as quickly as I could. What I never could understand is how people can spend tens of thousands of dollars on bikes and then say that they can't afford a good helmet. My helmet cost 25% of what I paid for my bike! I'm not hatin on anyone for not wearing a $500-700 helmet though. At least they're wearing a helmet, and a cheap helmet is better than no helmet at all. I used to have an Icon Alliance SSR Rocket's Dead Glare as a backup helmet. I thought it was cool looking, but it was a cheap piece of . It was noisy, the padding was rock hard and it fit horribly.

I started out with an HJC CL-15 (decent helmet), then got my red Shoei X-11 Kiyonari (awesome helmet), then bought the Alliance SSR as a backup helmet (piece of ), then sold it and the red Kiyonari and bought my black X-11 that I wear now.

I'm not hatin on ya Hughes, but you can afford 4 bikes, but can't afford a good helmet?

I don't dislike ALL Icon stuff. I have a Motorhead leather jacket that I LOVE, and I'm probably going to buy the Field Armor boots and knee pads. I've never worn their top of the line helmets, but the Alliance was NOT a good fit for me.

I bet those horns would rip you off the bike if you turned around backwards.

Saw someone pimpin' one today and thought WTF. All he was lacking was the mohawk up the middle.

Wonder how long before helmet mullets are available? Or rat tails?
