Depending on when was the last engine re-built, the bore kit will wear the engine faster. If that was done recently, I would pay around 2 - 2.5 k.

clear TX title in hand? If so i'd say closer to $3000

But like hotnanas said... "I never pay more than $2000 for a used dirtbike"

You can find something else just as good for about $2000

Thanks for the responses! Says it has 3 hrs on it since the bore job. Exactly what I was thinking tho, I couldnt make it worth more than $3000 tops. He was wanting to do a trade, but says his bike is worth a minimum $4k.....

The problem with a used dirtbike is the fact that it is a dirtbike. I've crashed my dirtbikes so hard into other bikes, trees, and the many times the ground. That is what it was intended for. So just about every dirtbike purchase, you just need to be aware that parts may be bent, broken, or even missing. Like I said, I won't pay more than $2,000 for a used dirt bike, because you may end up getting one that will need $1,000 or more of work after your first few hours of riding it.

Bore job on thumpers is not a good idea. That will thin out the cylinder wall causing overheating issues.

Now if it had a RPM, ATHENA, or CYLINDER WORKS big bore kit then it is ok. Their cylinders are designed for larger displacements while having a thicker wall.
I build a lot of 450 and 250f motors. I have yet to come across a "305" set-up.

Well I'm not really in the market for a dirtbike, he wants my GSXR and asked if I would trade for anything.. I mentioned I might for a DRZ 400SM bc I miss playing on one my friend had and he threw out the 250.. Thanks again for all the input

an irrelevant selling point unless the buyer weighs the same & has an identical riding style as the person the suspension was set up for.

I'd pay no more than $3500 for it & only if it was flawless.

i wouldn't buy a bike that has been bored out personally. a bored 250 is still gonna gonna be slower than a 450.

Sounds like he bumped the price so it would be an even trade, tell him the bike + $1500-2000 cash, but only if U want the dirt bike

I have a DRZ 400SM that I wouldn't mind swapping for a GSXR on weekends that Lone Star Track Days has events at TWS (Texas World Speedway).
