Rider dead after falling down off a ramp

Motorcyclist dies after plunging over North Houston freeway ramp

Tragic...I wonder what happened to cause him to crash. Be safe everyone. It's been raining heavily in Houston recently and water is not a good thing for our bikes. We've all seen the Donnington race and what little water can do....

He died from the fall. Who knows if the helmet would have saved him or at least protected his head. My condolences to his family.

My best friend was killed this exact same way in 2004. He had on a helmet and it did no good.

Freeway ramps and overpasses never bothered me before. When I bought my KLR 650 I rode it over 59 on 610 west in the right hand lane. I could see way too much over the retainer wall than I wanted to. Add to that a little side wind and deja vous set in.

I was driving from Chimney Rock to downtown Houston to pick up my pay check, I was one of the last cars to pass under the 610 overpass when an ammonia truck coming from the south went over the retainer crashing onto 59. If I remember correctly several people died in the ammonia cloud. Tried to come back to my bank on Hillcroft and freeway was closed.

needless to say, the streets be dangerous. also its probably a safe bet that speed is involved when someone goes over the rails. gets windy up there . . . be careful

The westpark tollway to 59 ramp is the worst. I always slow down to the posted on it because it scares me so much. Seeing over the retaining wall blows.

The city needs to consider adding additional railing on the overpasses to protect riders. They way the are, they offer no protection at all.
