Ideally, this is the gear I'd like to have:

Helmet: Shoei (currently have an Arai)
Jackets: Fieldsheer (own this)
Pants: Fieldsheer (own this)
Gloves: Held (own this)
Boots: Sidi (own this)
Back protector: T-Pro (own this)

Basically, I don't like my Arai and want to upgrade to a Shoei X-11. Fieldsheer offers CE-rated armor everywhere and 360 degree zippers at a reasonable price. Held gloves are way better than the Dainese I had before. Sidi boots are highly regarded. T-Pro a.k.a. Joe Rocket Speedmaster back protectors are thin and comfortable but meet higher impact protection standards.

Helmets you'll really have to find out what fits first. I don't think it's clear that Jacket/Pant combos from one manufacturer are better than another. Again, you'll have to find out what fits. Perforated leather is good for the weather now, but in the summer it's too hot for me. I have mesh stuff also.

Buy stuff you are most likely to wear. It won't do any good if you leave it at home.
