Question to eBay or not to eBay

so i finished my msf course a few weeks ago and am looking to get my first bike. i know it's probably a bad idea but i'm really tempted to get this '06 kawasaki ninja (13k miles) off eBay. it's about 1000 cheaper (even w/ shipping) than an '07 (2k miles) that i'm eyeing at a local dealer. i've also looking around here and on craigslist but the problem with craigslist is that i really can't tell a good used bike from a bad. my thought is at least w/ ebay i can get their 100 point inspection thing and see if the bike is alright. any thoughts? good bad experiences w/ ebay?

i hate egay

look around at bikes on here, most are all good prices considering their year/make/model. no one here will bs you, on craigslist go look at it before you buy it, if someone lives near im sure they'd even go with for the right price(pack of beer )

I bought my 919 off Ebay, but I was only looking for local bikes, so I could check them out myself before bidding. Almost got a Bandit this way, but got outbid.

That is a great first bike. You will enjoy it. You can also check out Motorcycles Unlimited in Houston. If they don't have what you are looking for, they can often locate it.

I have bought two bike via ebay. One through a dealer back in 2004 and a used one back in 2006. The dealer was easy and used all certified funds. The used one was easy too, a couple phone calls and paid for it AFTER i went and looked at it.

I’ve had good experiences on ebay but in this case I’d strongly consider the mileage / cost. You’re only paying nine cents a mile to put those 11,000 miles difference on yourself. If the bike’s been well treated 13k’s not much, but if it hasn’t…..?
Sure the other could be abused with only 2k on it but other than break in, it’s not even due for an oil change yet.

I'd go to the dealer with + $500 to $750 in hand and say deal or no deal.
