Keep you ego in check untill you really know the track.

Try to find a smooth line, that will make you fast.

Proper gearing for each corner, make sure to really keep the revs up.

Hydrate for a few days before the event, a good night's rest, an open mind, listen to your instructors, leave the ego at home, forget everything you thought you knew, and HAVE FUN!!!

WFO all day long!

LOL jk...

Drink 1 gallon of water each day, 3 days before the trackday. Bring water and gas to the track and maybe a fan. Make sure your helmet is in good shape (never been crash tested) and most importantly... Have fun and don't crash!

All good advice. That is a Ridesmart event, at TWS (Texas World Speedway), on Labor Day so I will see you there.

PM me if you have any more specific questions.

Just hydrate yourself well, make sure your bike is safe and properly taped and whatnot.

Don't get all worked up, it's really no big deal. Get ready to learn alot and have a blast.

And since it is at TWS (Texas World Speedway), bring lunch or 10 bux because Ride Smart doesnt serve lunch at TWS (Texas World Speedway).

And +a gazillion to just chillin and taking it easy. Later in the day you can push a little if you prefer. Pay attention at the riders meeting and in class.

And ask your instructor ALOT of questions.

I prefer to take the mirrors off. Or you can tape them.

So...

tape headlight
tape taillight
tape/remove mirrors
unplug or pull fuse for headlight and tail light.
Remove your license plate too. Not required, but good idea.

Just go over your bike...Check fluid levels, tire pressure, tire condition, chain tension.

I might do that event as well, you are more than welcome to pit in with me if you want.
The most important thing is for you to have fun. Aside from what has been said, try to go to the track with a friend, try not to ride to the track (you are going to be shattered at the end of the day).
Specific to TWS (Texas World Speedway): "People said that TWS (Texas World Speedway) is a fast track, what makes it fast? Your right hand" That being said as do not try to ride fast, try to be smooth. Speed will come eventually.

Pester an instructor all day like you'll have a fvcking heart attack if he doesn't follow you around and give you pointers.

You can ask Derek Steptoe about that one.

You have nothing to prove to anyone other than yourself. The only race is the one against the clock.

ICY HOT & ADVIL go a long way.

Water / Low Calorie Gatorade and maybe a quick energy drink for the last 1 or 2 sessions should be the only fluid making their way to your insides during the trackday. Leave the coffee and coke at home.

If you don't have someone (like Larry Meyers, Ty Howard, etc) give your suspension a once over...............you're definitely in the wrong, homey.

Roger Albert, from On Road/Off Road, out of Austin does suspension set ups, track side, for $30 at Ridesmart events.

I prefer Motorcycles Unlimited for $25.
