i dont think you need more power, you just need to learn to utilize the power that you already have, I have alot on mine but honestly, i'll never use it all.. there is nowhere around here for you to be able to use the power that these machines posess.. and that goes for everyone..

i'm prolly pushing around 140-150 rwhp and thats too much for what i do.. without truly knowing how to use the power, we will never be able to get the full benefit of having more than 100 hp.

Be careful with how much ignition advance you run on that motor, I'd recommend no more than 2-3 over stock.
On the R1 the ignition rotor is on the right side of the motor. To advance it you would loosen the bolts and turn the advancer clockwise.
Conversely if your rotor was on the left you would want to turn it CCW.

dammit, I wouldnt have told him that patrick, you know hes gonna spin that around like a clock and not even have a clue as to what hes doing, the one good WOT pass + not having a clue as to what happens when advanced to far = rattle, rattle, boom boom boom. If you can hear detonation, its doing damage already.
If he is gonna play with the timing, he needs to do it with knowledge, or either on a dyno and advanced slowly and test under a load.

yeah, maybe, but not knowledgeable enough to know where it is and which direction advances or retards. This is an area that should not be passed on unless someone passes on appropriate info with it. A mess up with to much advance isnt good for a high revving critter, either time it with a light or do a dyno session with the light and get a few more ponies, but imho, not enough /worth him taking a chance on damaging the motor, quality of fuel may be different from tankful to tankful, and also he cant use the power available at present, so its safer to keep it at stock tune for now. He has plenty of time to read up and educate himself on the subject, pros and cons, not at all trying to dog him, he does need to learn, but not at the expense of a motor or resultant damage when the next fill up may not have the same octane.
